What is Kickstarter?

Kickstarter’s mission is to help bring creative projects to life. But it’s really a space where value gets traded for value.

It’s a crowdfunding platform that reduces the risk of those involved in the financing of a startup or project by enabling founders to call on a very specific audience to back endeavors that align with their interests. No one has to be a billionaire to have an impact; it’s small pledges in $10-$25 dollar increments that add up. Crowdfunding gives power to the people to choose what gets created in the world.

What we love about Kickstarter is that backers don’t have to pledge from the goodness of their hearts—they’re exchanging value for value by choosing a reward.

In the case of Transition Wrestling, backers receive subscriptions for the coverage we’ll be able to provide for the sport of women’s wrestling. Can you imagine parents, fans and female wrestlers having access to a platform dedicated to collegiate tournament coverage, athlete interviews, rankings, rivalries, technique, program spotlights, documentaries, series on women in the sport and all other updates re, women’s wrestling? Because we can.

One of Kickstarter’s biggest challenges is that campaign funding is all or nothing. So, if campaigns don’t meet minimum funding goals, project teams don’t receive anything and no money exchanges bank accounts.

In an earlier post, we explored 9 ways collegiate coverage impacts women’s wrestling.

The mission of Transition Wrestling is to strengthen the global position of women by sharing stories of effort, excellence and overcoming adversity. We are women wrestlers in business, stepping up to fill a need we see in the community.

When you pledge $20 to our campaign you join a group of individuals that helps position us to make the idea of coverage a reality, THIS YEAR. Plus, the reward gets you 50% off an entire year when we start subscriptions later on. When you pledge, you are investing in a future return. Let’s do this!

Get involved by:

  • Choosing a reward that fits your budget.
  • Sharing our campaign go-live post (here) by tagging us on social media with a unique response for why you feel what we’re doing is exciting/important.
  • Letting us know if you see yourself fitting into what we’re doing, or know someone that does!
