Fargo finalists add depth to seven collegiate women’s wrestling programs

FARGO, NORTH DAKOTA—End of day two for Junior Women’s Freestyle.

Kelani Corbett, Hawaii’s 180 pound National Champion.

Fargo, for the last time

For sure things Emily Shilson (MN-106), Gabby Skidmore (WI-122) and Kaylee Moore (WA-132) have in common: they’re all 2019 Fargo Champions, and they’re all headed to Augsburg University this fall to compete at the collegiate level. Shilson also became only the second six-time Fargo girls champion next to Teshya Alo.

McKendree University is adding champions McKenzie Cook (AK-144) and Alara Boyd (IN-138).

Champion Kelani Corbett (HI-180) is headed to wrestle under the direction of her brother at Lyon College, Gabby Hamilton (IL-200) to Life University and Gabby Holloway (TX-225) to Campbellsville University.

Runner up Josie Bartishofski (WI-112) will be headed to the University of Jamestown, Morgan Norris (NV-138) to Presbyterian College and Angela Buenrrostro (CA-200) to the University of the Cumberlands.

Remaining graduated senior champ Tiare Ikei will be staying in Colorado Springs to train at the Olympic Training Center, but we aren’t sure yet where champion Xochitl Mota-Pettis (TX-127) and runner up Jerzie Estrada (CO-144) will continue their wrestling careers.

Finalists with more Fargo opportunities

Runners up Viktorya Torres (WA-127), Kiley Hubby (WA-152), Rayana Sahagun (MI-100), Elisa Robinson (KS-180), Isabeau Shalack (IL-225), Tristan Kelly (CO-164), Nanea Estrella (HI-122) and Lana Perez (HI-127) will all be seniors this fall. It should be interesting to see how they decide where to wrestle in 2020.

Montana DeLawder (PA-112) and Tiffani Baublitz (PA-152) are both champions from Pennsylvania that will be entering their junior years in high school.

Sage Mortimer (UT-100) and Kennedy Blades (IL-164) doubled up their stop signs this weekend and walk away as both 2019 16U and Junior Fargo champs. Along with them, we’re hoping to see runners up Jennifer Soto (CA-117) and Faith Cole (MO-106) represent their states at Fargo for the next several years.

Be on the lookout for a more in-depth take on all of the hard-earned and well-fought matches to All-American status at this years 2019 USMC Junior Nationals.
