Campbellsville wins MSC team title with 5 champions

Bowling Green, KY – – After a day’s work in Bowling Green, Campbellsville brought home the Mid-South Conference Championships team title for the second time in three seasons.

Given that there are only 4 teams in the conference, the points were closer between the Lady Tigers and Running Eagles than they were at the WCWA’s. Campbellsville scored 145.5 points, Life 124, Cumberlands 99 and Brewton-Parker 9.5.

Campbellsville’s Abby Nette won by tech or fall in each contested bout at 130 pounds. Bridgette Duty won the 136 pound weight class, becoming the Patriot’s sole champion in the MSC.

At 123 pounds, Adrianna Lopez (Campbellsville) posted a 5-2 win in the final round against WCWA champ Julia Vidallon (Life). The pair never met at the WCWA’s because Lopez lost in the semifinals to Augsburg’s Vayle Baker.

Life’s Gabby Hamilton got revenge over Campbellsville’s Alexandra Castillo at 191 pounds with a pin in 1 min 44 sec. Hamilton lost to Castillo in the semis at the WCWA’S.

At 101, Faye Cherrier (Life) won by forfeit over McKenzie Bacich (Campbellsville). The two never met at the WCWA’s, but Cherrier lost to a common opponent that Bacich beat. At 170, Life’s Jordan Nelson won by DQ over Mariah Harris (Campbellsville). Harris posted a 9-3 win over Nelson at the WCWAs.
