Team Tamyra Mensah-Stock came out victorious in a first place dual that came down to the value of team points at the Captains’ Cup.

The first win for Team Mensah-Stock came at 50 kg when Amy Fearnside turned that tables in a match that Alyssa Lampe had nearly wrapped up in the first period. Down 9-0, Fearnside fired back with a sweep single into three powerful gut wrenches making it a 1-point match in just :30 seconds. Halfway through the second period Fearnside secured her own 4-point move on the edge of the mat, taking the lead outright 12-9. By the end of the second period each wrestler exchanged another set of takedowns and Fearnside walked away with the win by decision, 14-11.

Team Winchester won the next three matches. Jacarra finished the 53 kg matchup versus Alisha Howk by technical superiority. Gracie Figueroa (57 kg) edged out Abby Nette 4-3, and Macey Kilty defeated Xochitl Mota-Pettis by technical superiority 10-0. After the first four matches, Team Winchester led in match wins 3-1 and in team points, 12-4.

But the final two matches went in favor of Team Mensah-Stock. Tamyra picked up critical bonus points with a fall over Alex Glaude at 68 kg and Dymond Guilford picked up bonus points with a technical superiority over Geneva Gray, 10-0. With match wins tied at 3, Team Mensah-Stock won by a single team point, 13-12.
