The Patriot Duals were the first duals wrestled within the Mid-South Conference this season. Life, Cumberlands and Indiana Tech—ranked No. 2, 3 and 4 in the MSC—competed this morning. Here are some first reactions.

Life University 2-0, wins over Indiana Tech and Cumberlands: The Running Eagles are ranked No. 5 in the NAIA and No. 2 in the Mid-South Conference. Life has a trio of wrestlers in the NAIA top 3: No. 1 Peyton Prussin, No. 3 Julia Vidallon and No. 3 Jordan Nelson. Prussin and Vidallon went 2-0 each for the duals and absolutely looked the part of their rankings (Nelson received 2 wins by forfeit). Jordan Nelson and Devyn Gomez started their season on the first of the month at the HWC Showdown Open. Cordova, Bartelt, Phillips, Dalrymple, Kellin, Finn, Rivera and Palmieri also had match wins.

University of the Cumberlands 1-1, win over Indiana Tech: The UC Patriots are ranked No. 7 in the NAIA and No. 3 in the Mid-South Conference. The team dropped their first dual to Life 39-6. But in a second dual versus Indiana Tech, the Patriots were able to close a point-gap by earning 3 back-to-back falls and split the morning 1-1 with a final score of 25-23 over the Warriors. NAIA No. 2 Bridgette Duty and No. 3 Andrea Schlabach wowed the crowd in their matches. Dosado, Alderman and Godinez also had match wins for the Patriots.

Indiana Tech (0-2): Indiana Tech is ranked No. 16 in the NAIA and No. 4 in the Mid-South Conference. The team made history this morning, wrestling in the first duals for their program. The first match versus No. 5 Life University was scored 39-5 in favor of the Running Eagles, but there was excellent wrestling from both teams in the bouts. The Warriors had four wins against the Patriots, but lost the dual 25-23. Kuzma, Soares, Wilkey, Vanover and Delong had individual wins for the Warriors.
